01 · Proposals that close, written in an hour

The Proposal Engine

For consultants and agency owners who lose deals to worse operators with better documents.

Definition

A consulting proposal is an argument built in a fixed order: it restates the client's problem, establishes what solving it is worth, and only then introduces price, so that cost is measured against value rather than against a competitor's quote.

You spent six hours on that proposal. They picked someone weaker with a cleaner document. That has happened more than once.

A proposal is not a description of your services, it is an argument built in a specific order. This is the complete system: the structure, the pricing psychology, the objection pre-handling, and the sequence that makes signing feel like the obvious next step.

What you get

  • The full proposal architecture, section by section, with the reasoning behind each position
  • Three pricing presentation models and the deal shapes each one wins
  • Pre-handled objections built into the document, so you stop defending price on a call
  • The follow-up sequence for a proposal that has gone quiet, which recovers more deals than anything else here
Not forAnyone wanting a template to fill in blindly. This teaches the argument so you can build any proposal.

The problem

Why this keeps happening

Most proposals are written as a list of what you will do. That is a quote, not a proposal, and it invites exactly one question: can anyone do this cheaper.

A proposal that closes does something different. It restates the client's problem more clearly than they stated it, establishes what solving it is worth, and only then introduces price, at which point price is being measured against value rather than against competitors.

The order is the mechanism. Move pricing earlier and the same document stops working.

What is The Proposal Engine?

The Proposal Engine is a consulting proposal is an argument built in a fixed order: it restates the client's problem, establishes what solving it is worth, and only then introduces price, so that cost is measured against value rather than against a competitor's quote.

A section-by-section architecture with the reasoning behind each position, three pricing presentation models, pre-handled objections built into the document, and the follow-up sequence for when it goes quiet.

How it runs

How does The Proposal Engine work, step by step?

The Proposal Engine runs in 5 steps: frame, establish, present, pre-handle, follow. Each step is described below with what it produces and why its position in the sequence matters.

01
of 05 steps
  1. 01

    Frame

Restate their problem better than they did. If this section is weak, nothing after it lands.

  2. 02

    Establish

Set what solving it is worth, before any number of yours appears.

  3. 03

    Present

Introduce pricing using the model that fits this deal shape.

  4. 04

    Pre-handle

Answer the three objections inside the document so you stop defending price on a call.

  5. 05

    Follow

Run the recovery sequence for a proposal that has gone silent.

What do you get with The Proposal Engine?

The Proposal Engine is delivered as a working skill file plus a written companion covering the method. It contains 4 parts: proposal architecture, pricing models, objection pre-handling, follow-up sequence.

Failure modes

What do people get wrong?

The 4 most common failures are: opening with your credentials; pricing before value; one option only; going silent after sending. Each one is explained below with why it happens and what to do instead.

  1. 01

    Opening with your credentials

Nobody reads a proposal to learn about you. Open with their problem, stated better than they stated it.

  2. 02

    Pricing before value

A number that arrives before the worth is established can only be compared to other numbers.

  3. 03

    One option only

A single price is a yes or no. Structured options change the question to which one.

  4. 04

    Going silent after sending

Most proposals do not die from rejection. They die from nobody following up properly.

You spent six hours on that proposal. They picked someone weaker with a cleaner document. That has happened more than once.

The alternatives

How does The Proposal Engine compare to the alternatives?

There are three ways to solve this: do it yourself, hire it out, or buy the method. The Proposal Engine is the third. It costs $25 once, the method stays yours, and you can re-run it without paying again.

Before you buy

Questions

Does it include a template?

It includes the architecture and worked examples. A template you fill in without understanding the argument produces a document that looks right and closes nothing.

Is this just a pack of prompts?

No. A prompt is one instruction. This is a production system: the method, the sequence, the failure modes, and the standard for finished work. It is the process I would charge a client for.

Can I use this on client work?

Yes. That is what it is for. Use it inside your own delivery, for as many clients as you like. You are buying the method, not a seat.

Could I not just ask an AI to do this?

You can ask. You will get an average answer, because the model writes toward the middle of everything ever written. Knowing what good looks like in this specific job is the part that took twelve years.

Do I need to be technical?

No. If you can use ChatGPT, you can use this.

What format do I actually receive?

A working skill file you install once, plus a written companion explaining the method so you can adapt it rather than follow it blindly. It runs inside Claude.

What happens after I click buy?

It opens an email to me, already filled in. I reply with a payment link and send the files the same day. Deliberately human, because I want to know who is using these.

Is there a refund?

Yes. If you use it properly and it does not do what this page said, tell me and I refund you. No argument.
